Black History Month at Centennial Park School

Pupils from Centennial Park School in Chateauguay are celebrating Black History Month during the entire month of February. Translation Dan Rosenburg A first activity putting the Caribbean culture in the spotlight with animator Amanda Benn was held at that school on February 13. Groups of students were gathered together in the gymnasium to sing the Black national anthem, Lift Up Your Voices and Sing. The initiative was launched by French teacher Isabelle Meluse, herself of Caribbean nationality, who has been living in Quebec since 2004. On February 19 a workshop with the Black Community Resource Centre (BCRC) will be produced with groups from Grades 3 to 6 in order to exhibit the heritage of Black Canadians and their leadership. A special assembly will be held at the school on February 28 to close the Black History Month celebrations.
