Nature-Action Québec invites residents of Châteauguay and surrounding areas to volunteer for bush planting day on October 24 at the Centre Écologique Fernand-Seguin, from 12:30 to 4:00 pm. With the assistance of volunteers, native shrubs will be planted in the pond area subsequent to the work done earlier this year to eradicate invasive exotic shrubs. The species to be planted have been specially chosen to attract birds and limit the expansion of invasive plants, such as buckthorn, on the site. This important project is made possible through financial support from the Fondation de la faune du Québec and Ville de Châteauguay in co-operation with Héritage Saint-Bernard. During the activity, participants will have the opportunity to join a team of professional technicians who are enthusiastic and passionate about nature. They will be pleased to share their knowledge about the protection, restoration and development of natural environments. We are currently seeking volunteers who would like to get involved and support us in carrying out this project to create quality biodiversity habitat and develop this natural environment of high ecological value. If you are interested, please sign up quickly to reserve your place by calling Viviane Belle-Isle at 450 536-0422, ext. 426, or by email at: viviane.belle-isle@nature-action.qc.ca. The deadline for registration is October 23 at noon. Please note that the places are limited to participate in this activity. In case of heavy rain, the activity will be held on the next day, Friday, October 25. If there is a postponement, registered volunteers will be contacted the day before. (Source : Nature Action)
