Chateauguay Legion centenarian passes

Veteran centenarian Garnet Elias Bourgaize of Chateauguay passed away on the morning of January 5. Translation Dan Rosenburg A final homage will be paid to him on Saturday, January 18 at the Yves Legare Funeral Complex in Chateauguay. Visits will be held between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion’s Chateauguay branch will hold a ceremony beginning at 1 p.m. A religious service will take place at St. Andrew’s United Church in Chateauguay at 2 p.m. that day. Bourgaize was honored by the City of Chateauguay at the public council meeting of November 2019. The pupils and staff of St. Willibrord School also held a special homage for him in November. He is survived by his three children and 10 grandchildren. He was married to Roma Bourgaize for 55 years before she passed in 2001. This venerable war veteran had been on the battlefield of World War 2. He served as an engineer in the Canadian Army and celebrated his 100th birthday last October 18.
