Access to parc Joseph-Allard and nautical centre in Châteauguay will be restricted to residents and members, starting Saturday, July 18, until further notice, announced the City on July 16.  This decision was taken after an increase of visitors was observed since the beginning of summer. Châteauguay wishes to give better access to those popular places to residents and members, since "the high attendance in nautical sites recorded since the beginning of the year can affect the visitors’ experience and cause certain problems, in terms of parking needs, for example", says the City. To enforce the restriction, roadside checks will be in place at the crossing rue Notre-Dame Nord and boulevard d’Youville. A residence or membership proof will be requested. People who can’t provide them will be denied access. The City specified that Île Saint-Bernard is not part of these restrictions. In addition, she indicates that masks will be mandatory at the nautical centre reception booth, as per the new government’s rule to that extent.
