The territory in question numbers more than 225,000 inhabitants. It includes Greater Chateauguay, Kahnawake, the region of St. Constant/La Prairie and the rural municipalities of the Jardins-de-Napierville MRC. Translation Dan Rosenburg The rate of infection there is 27 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. This is close to the Monteregie rate which is 24 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to facts supplied by the Quebec Public Health National Institute. In regard to all proportions, the Monteregie is less affected than Montreal (96 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) and l’Estrie (74 per 100,000). The zones which shelter less inhabitants per square kilometre show an infection rate of COVID-19 that is less than those that are densely populated. Of the 341 cases counted in the Monteregie on March 30 at 9 p.m., 88 are found in the Pierre Boucher RLS in the Longueuil sector and 16 are in the Haut-St-Laurent-Suroit RLS.
