A worksite will be returning on the Mercier Bridge for four weeks this summer to  repair the slabs on the provincial section. As in past years, one lane will be accessible in each direction during the duration of the obstacles. The Minister of Transport has not yet confirmed the dates of the work. “In addition, 18 weekends of closure, in one direction or the other, will take place between the months of June and November of 2020 in order to permit other maintenance or repair interventions,’’ emphasizes MTQ spokesman Gilles Payer.    Some alleviation measures will be put in place, as was done last year, to facilitate traffic. “These measures could be adjusted according to the traffic flows which are decreasing since the start of the pandemic,” Payer indicates. Alleviation measures During this work blitz, trucks will be forbidden in the South Shore direction between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., and in the direction of Montreal between 5 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The presence of an employee in the watchman’s shelter in Kahnawake will be prolonged from 3 p.m. to 12:15 p.m. The reserve bus lane on Route 132 will be effective seven days a week instead of from Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m, Emergency services and priority vehicles will have access to the bridge at the Airlie bus entrance on the LaSalle side. The MTQ also foresees a lengthening of rush hours on Victoria Bridge during the duration of the Mercier Bridge works. ‘’Note that in view of the situation in connection with COVID-19, the alleviation measures and methods of communication would be adjusted according to the orders of the Quebec Public Health,’’ the MTQ specifies.
