Exo will offer free bus service access to Châteauguay’s l’île Saint-Bernard this summer.
The City of Châteauguay has made an agreement to that effect with the transportation company and Héritage Saint-Bernard. The budget is $65,000, explained Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier at the city council meeting held on April 19th. It is a pilot project which seeks to reduce automobile traffic in a popular sector that has little parking availability. That causes traffic issues and cars parked in an inadequate manner, which has led to several complaints from neighbours over the past few years.
The Exo bus will shuttle between the incentive parking located on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard at the city’s entrance, and will pass by Vice-Versa Sélection Retraite seniors’ residences, the Centre Régional de Châteauguay Shopping Centre and City Hall, detailed Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier during the April 19th meeting. According to him, the route will take 18 minutes to complete. The shuttle will be in service from 9 am to 6:20 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from June 5th to October 3rd, as well as on June 25th and July 2nd.
