The City of Chateauguay is proposing an “inverted” Christmas parade this year because of COVID-19. On Saturday, December 5, there won’t be any floats, mascots and other natty characters that are going to displace themselves, but the citizens. The joyous enchantment will be arranged along Salaberry North Blvd. People are invited to admire it while circulating in the comfort of their vehicles from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. “For over a kilometre, the magic of our history of Christmas will occupy all your eyes and ears since you will be able to tune in, during our trip, to our festive resonant live on the FM radio band,” the City detailed in a communique. “Lots of hard work has been done on this,” asserted Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier at the Chateauguay City Council meeting of November 16. The vehicles will have to mandatorily enter the festival through D’Anjou Blvd. A waiting lane will be reserved for it between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. It will not be possible to access Salaberry North Blvd. through Arthur Laberge Bridge from 8 p.m. to midnight. Shuttle People who do not have access to a vehicle will still be able to benefit by taking part in the show. Exo will offer free shuttle service. Advance registration is necessary, however, and space is limited, the City informs. Interested parties can reserve their place on the City’s website.
