Les 150 ans du Canada fêtés à Châteauguay
(English follows) Le 150e anniversaire du Canada sera célébré à Châteauguay.
Des feux d’artifice donneront le coup d’envoi aux festivités le vendredi 30 juin. La population est invitée à se rassembler au parc Marcel-Seers pour apprécier le déploiement des gerbes de couleurs au-dessus de la rivière à proximité. Le rendez-vous est à 22h.
La fête battra son plein à l’Agora citoyenne du boulevard Maple le 1er juillet de 10h30 à 21h. La journée commencera avec une courte parade, la levée du drapeau et l’interprétation de l’hymne national par le Chœur La Bohème. La chorale, dont la mairesse Nathalie Simon fait partie, enchaînera avec quelques chansons. La programmation musicale sera ainsi lancée.
Les talents se succèderont jusqu’à la fin de la soirée. Le gâteau sera servi entre 13h30 et 14h.
Jeux gonflables, tours de poney et maquillage figurent également au programme pour divertir les enfants.

Canada's 150th birthday will be celebrated in Chateauguay.
Fireworks will provide the sendoff to the festivities on Friday, June 30. The general public is invited to gather at Marcel Seers Park to appreciate the deployment of the cacophony of colours above the nearby Chateauguay River. The display begins at 10 p.m.
The festival will reach its peak at the Citizens' Square on Maple Bld. On July 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The day will begin with a short parade, the raising of the Canadian flag and an interpretation of the natioal anthem by the La Boheme Choir. The choir, of which Chateauguay Mayoress Nathalie Simon is a long-standing member, will follow with a few other songs to launch the music program.
The talents will perform until the end of the evening. The Canada Day cake will be served between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Inflatable toys, pony rides and face makeup also figure on the program to entertain the children.
“We ordered sunshine,” quipped Ernie Presseau, head of the event’s organizing committee along with Mike McGinn.
