Photo radar at the exit of the Mercier Bridge : 13,000 tickets in one year

The photo radar installed on Highway 138 at the exit of the Honoré-Mercier bridge in Montréal captured 13,275 vehicles exceeding the speed limit over the course of the past year- specifically from September 1st 2019, to August 31, 2020. Translation courtesy Amanda Bennett The reported infractions represent fines of over $1.8M according to data published by the Quebec Ministry of Justice. During this pandemic, summer 2020’s record is different from what was reported over the same period in 2019. The photo radar led to 1310 tickets in August 2020, compared with 1111 in August of 2019, an 18% increase. Conversely, 23% fewer offenders were given tickets in July 2020; 1736 compared to July of 2019 when 2241 tickets were issued. Since its installation in August of 2009, the photo radar placed 350 m from the Airlie exit has signalled 30,568 speeding infractions which represents $4.4 in fines.
