Pont Mercier : transport en commun gratuit reporté en août

(English follows) Le transport en commun gratuit offert du 3 au 6 juillet sur les circuits d'autobus traversant le pont Mercier en chantier sera de retour en août. Les usagers devront payer entre-temps. «Initialement, la Ville de Châteauguay avait demandé au Ministère une période de gratuité minimale de deux semaines afin de permettre aux résidents de prendre connaissance de la mesure et de s’habituer au mode de transport en commun. Plutôt que de prolonger la période de gratuité sur deux semaines consécutives, et ainsi pénaliser les détenteurs de carte mensuelle, le Ministère a plutôt décidé de l’étaler sur deux mois», explique la municipalité dans un communiqué. «Il y aura ainsi une deuxième semaine de gratuité au mois d’août», précise la Ville. Les autres mesures d’atténuation de la congestion, dont l’interdiction de passage aux véhicules lourds durant les heures de pointe et la création d’un stationnement incitatif temporaire près du stationnement incitatif actuel, demeurent en place.

The other measures for alleviating the bridge congestion, including the ban of passage to heavy vehicles during rush hours and the creation of a temporary incentive parking lot    not far from the current incentive parking lot, remain in place.
