Sports Quebec settled on the candidature of Rimouski instead of Châteauguay for the holding of the 57th Quebec Summer Games finals in 2022. “Because of the quality of the nominations deposited by the three milieu candidates, we note that Chateauguay, Drummondville and Rimouski possess the capacities required to welcome a Quebec Games final. However, as in every sports competition, and in the image of the Quebec Games, a winner must climb the first step of the podium. In this sense, in a consensual fashion, the members of the Selection Committee and the Sports Quebec Administration Council, would like to congratulate the City of Rimouski,” affirmed Michel Allen, president of the Sports Quebec Administration Council in a communique. Chateauguay Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier seemed very disappointed by the news but did not wish to comment during a phone call with Le Soleil de Chateauguay. “In spite of the disappointment, the City wishes to thank all of the citizens, neighbouring municipalities and numerous partners who were involved in the nomination process. Without all these people and organizations, Chateauguay’s candidature would not have been so competitive and would not have received congratulations from the Selection Committee,” said the City of Chateauguay in a press release. As for Jasmin Felix, representative of the Quebec Games South-West region, he said he is extremely proud of the dossier that the Chateauguay candidature committee had deposited.
