A sports facility valued at $23,000 offered by the National Hockey League will enhance Billings Park in Chateauguay. The gift was awarded following the appearance in Chateauguay of the Rogers  Hometown Hockey event on Sunday, February 2, 2020. The game matching the Montreal Canadiens against the Columbus Blue Jackets was then shown on the large screen in the Vanier Cultural Centre parking lot. The pre-game show broadcast on Sportsnet had featured Chateauguay in the deciding game. The module obtained satisfied those adept at hockey and basketball. The park will have two such facilities because the City procured a second one from the Atmosphere company in Mirabel for the sum of $20,900. “A bargain was granted by the provider,” noted City of Chateauguay spokesman Eric Lapare. The two facilities are part of a project of a modernization project for the park situated beside Howard S. Billings High School and St. Willibrord Elementary School. The renovation of the tennis surfaces and pickleball fields are also part of the plans. It should all be completed in time for the summer of 2021. Translation Dan Rosenburg
