The Châteauguay Food Bank will be holding a drive-through food drive on Saturday, October 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Agora on Maple Boulevard. The need has never been greater, the organization says.

Food levels are “terribly low,” laments Food Bank President Marcia McInnis. Normally, about 100 families a year sign up to receive food. This year, 138 households are already on the list as of September.

Those who want to bring their donations to the Agora will be able to drop them off “in a safe and contact-free environment”, the group assures.

Drop-off points will also be available in the parking lots of IGA, Metro and Maxi grocery stores in Châteauguay.

Spaghetti sauce, soups, peanut butter and cans will be particularly appreciated. However, all nonperishable foodstuffs, as well as monetary donations, will be accepted.
