Installed on the river’s Adirondacks Bridge last Wednesday, Joshua, Billy and Isaiah Loiseau Whitebean each tossed into the water a large magnet tied to a string, reeled it in and then repeated the process. “As in fishing, this requires patience/ But we don’t eat the catches,” laughed Joshua. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7vousw The catches are bicycles, scooters, skateboards, lots of money, plenty of fish-hooks, knives, road signs and railroad spikes. In a few days, the trio pulled about 90 kilograms (200 pounds) of metallic objects out of the water. “We remove everything that we take out and bring it home. Afterwards we call a scrap yard to take it away,” Joshua explained. “We have fun and we clean the river,” he emphasized. The dripping covers the objects and prevents contact with the magnet. “You have to have a very strong magnet or try pulling numerous times until it eventually rubs off.” He and his brothers procured their magnets on Amazon. The cost varies between $80 and $200. “It depends on the dimension and the weight it can pull,” he specifies. Their models can pull between 300 kg (660 pounds) and 800 kg (1700 pounds).
