A Chateauguay toddler celebrated his fourth birthday by giving a gift to the Roussillon SPCA this year. (Translation Dan Rosenburg) The boy told his mother that he didn’t want to receive any toys. Instead he wanted people to make a donation to him for the cause he has chosen. An animal lover, Hunter amassed $315. He also gave some cat food, a few extra blankets and some toys for the animals at the refuge located in Delson. ‘’I had a good idea because my grandmother helps dogs and cats and I wanted to help too,’’ he explained at the time he made his donation to the SPCA. His grandmother, Sandy Mcleod, does volunteer work for the Critter Cabs group which transports animals from Quebec to animal refuge destinations in Ontario. Hunter had the opportunity to participate in his first transportation operation last March. There are no animals at his house because the place where he lives does not permit that,  but his grandparents’ shaggy friends adore him. ‘’We had a dog named Tyson,’’ says Mrs. McLeod. ‘’They were best friends. When he died, Hunter’s heart broke. Now we have two adopted dogs: Moemoe, a Doberman, and Tucker, a shih tsu, as well as a cat. Hunter loves them all,’’she noted.
