Chateauguay police arrested a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl on Tuesday, June 30 in reference to an aggravated theft of bicycles that took place on Wednesday, June 24 on the no longer used train bridge that goes by the name of the Adirondacks Bridge in Chateauguay. According to information from the police, two bicycle thefts would have taken place between 8:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. at this spot on June 24. In the first case, the man arrested acted alone to steal the bicycle belonging to a minor. A bit later, three suspects, including the man and the woman arrested by the police, apparently stole using “violence” two other bikes, a sweater and a cell phone belonging to two young minors who were passing by. The two suspects were released on a promise to eventually appear in court, according to Chateauguay police media relations agent Nadia Grondin. The three bicycles and the sweater have been found, Grondin explains. According to police, the Adirondacks Bridge is not a sector where they are called to intervene on a regular basis.
