4 camions et 3 véhicules impliqués dans un accident sur la 30

(English follows) Un carambolage impliquant 4 camions et 3 véhicules s'est produit vers 17h30 mercredi sur l'autoroute 30, en direction ouest, à la hauteur de la sortie du chemin de la Beauce à Beauharnois.

«Il n'y a pas de blessés graves», a indiqué le sergent Stéphane Tremblay, de la Sûreté du Québec. La chaussée était glacée à l'endroit de l'accident, il a précisé.

L'autoroute a été fermée le temps d'évaluer l'état de santé des occupants des véhicules, de nettoyer le site et d'épandre des abrasifs. Les voies ont été rouvertes vers 22h.

Vehicular pileup creates monstrous traffic jam

A pileup of vehicles provoked a major traffic jam on Autoroute 30 West during the evening rush hour Wednesday. Several people had to exercise patience for up to three hours, with their vehicles sandwiched on the expressways.

As has often been the case since the start of the winter, the region fell victim Wednesday afternoon to freezing rain followed by icy drizzle. While this drizzle was falling, four trucks and three cars collided at about 5:30 p.m. opposite Chemin de la Beauce in Beauharnois. ‘’There are no serious injuries,’’ indicated  Sgt. Stephane Tremblay of the Surete du Quebec. The roadway was icy at the spot where the accident occurred, he specified.

The autoroute was closed while time was taken to evaluate the state of health of the occupants of the vehicles; to clean up the site, and to spread some abrasives. All this transformed the speedway into a parking lot for a few kilometres. The users had to exercise patience until 10 pm. before things returned to normal.
