A monument to memory of 146 soldiers

A monument to the memory of Canadians who perished under the flags of U.S. Armed Forces during the Vietnam War was inaugurated on July 12 in the western sector of Beauharnois formerly known as Melocheville. Michel Thibault Translation Dan Rosenburg mthibault@gravitemedia.com The commemorative work produced by Monuments Melocheville contains the engraved names of 146 soldiers who died or were reported missing. Gilles Lefebvre was among the artisans, along with Marie-France Simard, Jennifer Malo and Lynne Letourneau. ‘’It’s with a tangible emotion that Mr. Jacques Gendron, Serge L’Italien, Gilles Sauve and other guests uncovered an exceptional monument dedicated to these men,’’ Jennifer Malo of Monuments Melocheville let it be known.
