Châteauguay in favor of mandatory mask in enclosed public places

The mayor of Châteauguay, Pierre-Paul Routhier, says he is pleased with the government’s decision to make the masks mandatory for everyone aged over 12 in enclosed public places, starting July 18. TO READ: COVID-19 walk-in clinic in Chateauguay In a press release, he mentions that elected officials from the regions had strongly urged the government to bring in this measure. "This decision puts an end to the lack of coordinated direction, which risked making things more complicated. It is important for the guidelines to be consistent across the province", he says. He adds that he relies on the residents and retailers’ cooperation, "who responded very well to the measures brought in by the Public health authorities since the beginning of the pandemic". The city reminds citizens that even if the gradual reopening has been underway for the last few weeks, the COVID-19 is still present. She keeps encouraging the residents to access municipal services online or by phone. If they require services in person, they need to make an appointment and wear a mask in municipal buildings.
