The City of Chateauguay is holding a consultation on the project of the public place in front of St. Joachim Church. The project is endowed with a budget of $2.5 million.

An information evening kicks off the process at that church on Wednesday, October 23 at 7 p.m. ‘’Before awarding a contract for the project design and the preparation of plans and specifications, the City wants to gather ideas and inspiration from church-goers, local residents, as well as from the entire municipality, local artists and various stakeholders interested in the site’s development,’’ informs the municipality in a press release.

The modalities of the consultation will be divulged on that date, the City specifies.

I think we have better places to put that much money, so my vote is no thank you.

I totally agree with Robert! Leave the church as is, there are more important places, and things we need to spend that money on, and for God’s sake stop building on the little green spaces we have left. We do not need more people in Chateauguay. We need to help the ones that are already here, like the homeless, and the elderly. Yet as I sit here typing this, I know that money talks with this city council.

2.5 million is an outrageous amount of city money to spend on that. I don’t think it’s necessary and there are many other places the money can be going that will better the community much more. I vote NO!

Another project that will go to weeds in a year like the bike path and roundabout on maple . Who will be using this space, you should make all the playground equipment safe before this.

We need to put the money in better places , Im affraid it will be another tax burnen to us chateauguay residents . Its like the famious sportplex that they build , an never ending money pit. Never saw a city so badly run. I SAY NO !

Definite no. What about St Francis. Better roads in Cuba.
Wasting money on digging up perfectly good sidewalks on St Joseph.

We need our roads fixed before anything. The church enjoys financial perks that rest of us don’t. They don’t pay any taxes. Why should my tax dollar benefit them. The wealthy parishioners and the Catholic Church should pay. Enough of the freeloading already.

i definatly vote NO. Like every other comments on this matter, this town needs better roads, infrastruture before investing all that money on a church .
