Imitating other schools boards, the New Frontiers Board has announced that it will give a holiday to its students on Friday, September 27 ‘’so that they may participate in the Global Climate Strike.’’ This date will become a pedagogical day.

On the other hand, there will be classes on Friday, October 4, which originally corresponded to a pedagogical day.

On September 27, demonstrations are scheduled in several Quebec regions on the occasion of the world strike for the climate. The goal of this movement is to call for the governments to post signs urging people to face the climatic emergency.

From the standpoint of the Vallee de Tisserands and Grandes Seigneuries school commissions, a pedagogical day was already on the schedule for September 27.

This was great thinking on the part of the New Frontiers School Board. Apart from the ethical support for the environmental movement, it’s a practical decision since secondary students in particular won’t need to miss that day of school.
