The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Pandemic Task Force wishes to advise the community today that it has issued new directives that all non-essential businesses should be prepared to close in the coming days. The action was taken as the situation within the region continues to worsen. Furthermore, Kahnawà:ke convenience stores are directed to sell only to Kahnawa’kehró:non, effective immediately. Please be aware that we continue to rely on long-standing partnerships for food and other essential supply deliveries. As well, healthcare and other workers provide essential services to the community, so people should be vigilant and not overzealous. Additionally, the Task Force wishes to advise the community that Kahnawà:ke Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services has initiated its ‘Emergency Food Services’ unit to secure food supplies for those who may require it. This unit will also be responsible to ensure Kahnawà:ke has adequate food storage within the community should it be required. (Source : MCK)
