Deux parcs à chiens projetés à Châteauguay

(English follows) La Ville de Châteauguay prévoit aménager deux nouveaux parcs à chiens. Le premier dans le Parc Oliver (secteur du boulevard Maple, coin Stanton Est), le second dans le parc Alfred-Dorais (secteur du boulevard Primeau, coin Richelieu). Les deux espaces devraient être construits au cours de l’été, estime la Ville. «Les plans sont en cours d’élaboration, notamment afin de déterminer les équipements qui y seront installés. La Ville souhaite pouvoir les rendre disponibles rapidement, et de les bonifier au besoin par la suite, précise Marie-Claude Tremblay, directrice des communications. L’estimation des coûts n’est pas encore finalisée, mais se précisera sous peu» ajoute-t-elle. Règles pour utiliser les lieux Certaines règles s’appliqueront aux propriétaires canins quant à l’utilisation des enclos. Entre autres, «l’animal devra être vacciné, enregistré, ne pas être malade et le propriétaire devra ramasser les déchets», a énuméré le maire Pierre-Paul Routhier pendant la séance ordinaire du conseil municipal du 16 avril. Deux plutôt que quatre Quant à savoir pourquoi la Ville a décidé d’aménager deux parcs à chiens, alors qu’elle en avait d’abord promis trois ou quatre, le maire Pierre-Paul Routhier a répondu que les élus souhaitaient d’abord «voir quelle utilisation sera faite des parcs avant d’en aménager d’autres», ce notamment pour éviter d’engager des frais inutilement. Avec l’espace déjà existant au parc de Concord de la rue Manor, Châteauguay comptera trois parcs où les chiens pourront s’amuser en groupe sans laisse.

Two new dog parks announced

The City of Chateauguay foresees laying out two new dog parks. The first one is at Oliver Park (in the Maple Blvd. sector, corner of Stanton East), and the second is in Alfred Dorais Park (Primeau Blvd. sector, corner of Richelieu). The two spaces should be constructed during this summer, the City believes. ‘’The plans are being elaborated now, notably in order to determine the equipment that will be installed there. The City wishes to be able to make them available quickly and to improve them later on if need be,’’ specifies City communications director Marie-Claude Tremblay. The estimate of the costs has not yet been finalized, but will be completed shortly, she adds. Rules for using the premises Certain rules will apply to dog owners regarding the use of the enclosures. Among other things, ‘’the animal will have to be vaccinated, registered and be free of illness, and the owner will have to pick up after their pets,’’ enumerated Mayor Pierre-Paul Routhier during the last City Council meeting of April 16. Two instead of four As for knowing why the City decided to lay out two dog parks, when at first it had promised three or four, the Mayor replied that the elected officials wished to first ‘’see how often the parks would be used before opening others,’’ notably to avoid incurring useless expense. With the space already existing at Concord Park on Manor street, Chateauguay will be able to count on three parks where dogs will be able to amuse themselves in groups without a leash.
