Dillon Lloyd et Massimo Matteau organisent une journée BMX bénéfice

(English follows) Athlète BMX professionnel, Dillon Lloyd organise avec son ami Massimo Matteau, ancien du hockey midget AAA, une journée spéciale le samedi 12 octobre au nouveau skatepark de Châteauguay. Les deux amis, anciens de l’école secondaire H. S. Billings, proposent aux jeunes de moins de 18 ans une compétition de BMX, à compter de midi. Une démonstration de pros, dont Dillon Lloyd, suivra à 14h. L’inscription est à 11h. Les profits de la journée seront versés à la Maison des jeunes de Châteauguay pour acheter des BMX. Ceux-ci seront prêtés gratuitement à des adeptes qui pourront les utiliser dans le skatepark voisin de l’organisme. «On veut encourager et faciliter l’accès à un mode de vie sain. Notre but est de donner accès aux enfants moins fortunés de notre communauté l'occasion de trouver de nouvelles passions», fait part Massimo Matteau, qui a joué avec l’ancienne équipe des Patriotes de Châteauguay midget AAA. «On voulait faire quelque chose pour redonner à la communauté», souligne le jeune homme, maintenant étudiant en comptabilité et finance à l’Université Concordia. Plusieurs prix de présence seront distribués aux participants. Du nombre, trois seront invités à montrer leur talent avec les pros. «On a pensé  à quelque chose que nous on aurait aimé», note Massimo Matteau. Pro à 16 ans Né et élevé à Châteauguay, Dillon Lloyd est devenu professionnel du BMX à 16 ans. Le sport l’a mené autour du monde. Ses prouesses ont fait la manchette de plusieurs publications internationales de BMX, telles que Transworld et DigBMX. Il se veut un modèle-clé pour les jeunes de la région.

BMX fund-raising day October 12

Michel Thibault  Translation Dan Rosenburg Professional BMX  athlete Dillon Lloyd and his friend, former Chateauguay Patriotes Midget AAA hockey player Massimo Matteau, are organizing a special day on Saturday, October 12 at Chateauguay’s new skatepark. The two buddies, both graduates of Howard S. Billings High School, are proposing a BMX bicycle competition for youngsters under 18, starting at noon. A professional demonstration by Lloyd and other pros will follow at 2 p.m. Registration is at 11 a.m. Proceeds from the day will be given to Chateauguay’s Maison des Jeunes to purchase some BMX bicycles. These will be lent free of charge to bike riders who will be able to use them in the skatepark, next door to the youth centre. ‘’We want to encourage and facilitate access to a healthy way of life. Our goal is to provide access to less fortunate children from our community the chance to find new passions,’’ explains Matteau. ‘’We want to do something to give back to the community,’’ stressed the young man who is now an accountancy and finance student at Concordia University. Several door prizes will be distributed to participants. Of that number, three will be invited to show their talent with the pros. ‘’We thought of something that we would have liked,’’ Matteau noted. A pro at 16 Born and raised in Châteauguay, Lloyd became a BMX professional at the age of 16. The sport took him all over the world. His prowesses made the headlines of several BMX international publications, such as Transworld and DigBMX. He wants to be a role-model for youngsters of the region.
