The City of Châteauguay adopted a $495,000 borrowing by law to purchase and install electric car charging stations to be installed in the parking lots of some of its establishments.

“We need to follow this trend with the (Quebec) government objectives of not selling gasoline powered vehicles by 2030,” explained Châteauguay Mayor Eric Allard. The city will add stations at the public works building, the fire station, City Hall and the library.

Currently, some twenty charging stations are accessible within the municipality’s territory. They are installed on particular public sites such as the Centre écologique Fernand-Seguin or the Transport Ministry offices, but also in parking lots of certain stores.
