Un enfant abordé par un individu près d’une école de Châteauguay

(English follows) Une élève de 6^e année aurait été suivie par un individu dans un véhicule alors qu’elle marchait dans le secteur de l’école Gérin-Lajoie, à Châteauguay, le matin du 27 septembre. La police de Châteauguay a été interpelée. La direction de l’école a envoyé une lettre aux parents des élèves fréquentant l’école, le jour même, pour les informer de la situation. «Heureusement, la jeune a eu le bon réflexe de s’éloigner de l’individu et de rentrer à l’école», lit-on dans la lettre. Le service de police de Châteauguay précise que selon la description faite par le jeune fille, le suspect serait «un homme de race blanche, âgé entre 40 et 50 ans, aux cheveux gris. Il conduisait un véhicule de type Jeep de couleur noire avec des éléments de chrome». « L’information a été partagée à toutes nos équipes (de policiers) et une surveillance est faite dans le secteur» ajoute l’agente Nathalie Langevin de la police de Châteauguay. Celle-ci suggère aux parents de rappeler à leurs enfants les consignes de sécurité : -Ne pas se déplacer seul dans la rue; -marcher en groupe; -ne pas parler aux inconnus; -ne rien accepter d’un inconnu; -ne pas demeurer près d’un véhicule d’un inconnu qui lui pose des questions; -ne jamais accompagner un inconnu; -ne jamais monter à bord du véhicule d’un inconnu, et ce, peu importe la raison.

Child accosted by individual near Chateauguay school

A sixth-grade pupil was apparently followed by an individual in a motor vehicle while she was walking in the Gerin-Lajoie School sector in Chateauguay on the morning of September 27. Chateauguay police were called upon. School authorities sent a letter to the parents of the students attending the school the same day to inform them of the situation. ‘’Fortunately, the youngster had a good reflex to distanced herself from the individual and return to school,’’ the letter reads. The Châteauguay police department specifies that according to the description given by the young girl, the suspect was ‘’a white man between the ages of 40 and 50, with gray hair. He was driving a black Jeep.’’ ‘’The information was shared with all our (police) crews and a surveillance was done in the sector,’’ added Chateauguay police agent Nathalie Langevin. She suggests that parents remind their children of the following safety instructions: -Do not walk alone in the street; -Walk in a group; -Do not talk to strangers; -Do not accept anything from a stranger; -Do not stay close to a vehicle of a stranger who asks a child questions.
