Get-together for cars which turn heads

Both owners of a modified car, Corey Reid of Chateauguay and Andrew Hoffman of Candiac this spring launched an invitation to personalized car fans to meet together every Friday in Kahnawake.
The first edition of « First-Class Fridays » on April 30 attracted 150 vehicles in the parking lot of the Host Hotel on Route 132 which constitutes the rendez-vous place as of 7 p.m.
« Everyone is welcome. The people can come just to chat and talk about what we did to our cars, » explained Reid.
« It's fun! Everyone shares the same passion, » Hoffman enthused. There is no admission fee. Interested people have only to show up.
Totally modified
Hoffman drives a totally modified black 2009 Audi S5. « I always loved to put my personal touch on my vehicles. I am in love with it! I continue to add parts. Once you start, it never finishes; it's like a drug! » he confided. « The only original things which remain are the dashboard and the safety belts! »
As several others in the parking lot, the body of his vehicle almost touches the asphalt. « It rises in order to drive, » Hoffman explained, backing his words with a brief demonstration. With one finger, the car with four rings rises like the silhouette of a cat.
Its owner mentions that he no longer counts the dollars invested in his car but he foresees keeping it for a long time. « It is going to be unique in Canada, » he emphasizes.
Rotating motor
«Cars are a passion for me! » says Reid. « Before that, I had a big monster truck, » he enthuses, standing close to his sunset-coloured 2004 Mazda RX8. It's a version that he remodelled. « I did everything in my garage at home, except the paint job. It took me all winter, » he said proudly. The heart of the RX8 made him crackle. « I have always loved these vehicles, » he said. « They have a rotary motors, meaning two rotars in place of pistons. There are only three parts in the motor that move. There are only three parts in the motor that move. It is comfortable at 10,000 revolutions per minute while other motors are in the red at 6,000 revolutions. »
Reid and Hoffman are both members of a club of owners of modified vehicles, Swar and High Society Montreal respectively.
