Chateauguay joins ‘’uprooting’’ ragweed campaign

The City of Chateauguay is participating  until September 15 in the 2019 provincial campaign of uprooting ragweed.   Organized by the Quebec Pulmonary Association, the campaign seeks to sensitize citizens to the misdeeds of ragweed while improving the health of Quebecers who suffer from seasonal allergies. Chateauguay wants ‘’to make part of the change’’ and ‘’to contribute to diminish up to nine times the quantity of pollen emitted, which inconveniences nearly one person out of eight,’’ the City writes in a communique. The City is notably engaged in working in vacant and public lots at least twice a year and has provided citizens with the documentation which will assist them in recognizing the plant and in disposing of them. These documents will be accessible at City Hall during the next few weeks, the City promises. Ragweed is one of the main intrusive plant allergens. It is recommended to proceed in its elimination between the months of June and July, before it blossoms. (Translation Dan Rosenburg)
