Incendie au Motel Rustik à Châteauguay : tous sains et saufs

(English follows) Un incendie a ravagé le Motel Rustik à Châteauguay dimanche. Aucun blessé n'est déploré. L'alerte a été donnée vers 11h en matinée concernant le feu pris dans un appartement. "En route, on nous a expliqué que les policiers étaient sur place et que l'incendie était majeur. Que le feu se propageait à plusieurs autres appartements", a fait part Luc Guérin, chef aux opérations du Service de sécurité incendie de Châteauguay. À leur arrivée sur place, les pompiers de Châteauguay ont constaté que des occupants étaient pris à l'extérieur au deuxième étage du motel, sur le balcon arrière. "Étant donné la loi de sécurité incendie qui nous permet d'avoir des appels multicasernes, on avait des pompiers de Mercier en route. On a fait un combat en façade du bâtiment et, Mercier eux, ont procédé au sauvetage à l'arrière", a expliqué M. Guérin. Les pompiers ont dû faire des recherches à l'intérieur du bâtiment car une personne manquait à l'appel. Elle avait finalement eu le temps de sortir et elle était allée prendre un café, a-t-il indiqué. "Il n'y a personne de blessé", a précisé le chef aux opérations. Les dommages sont considérables. "Ça va être fermé pour un bon bout. Le plafond dans le passage est complètement descendu", a mentionné Luc Guérin. Les pompiers de Châteauguay, Mercier et Saint-Isidore ont combattu le feu au Motel Rustik.  Leur collègues de Beauharnois et Saint-Constant ont protégé leur territoire durant l'intervention. Le service de sécurité incendie va investiguer pour déterminer la cause du sinistre. Selon les premières constatations, il pourrait s'agir d'un problème électrique. Réceptionniste au motel, Linda Larocque a indiqué au journal que le feu s'était déclaré dans une prise de courant au moment de faire le ménage des chambres.

Firemen from Chateauguay, Mercier and St. Isidore battled the fire at the Rustik Motel. Their colleagues from Beauharnois and St. Constant protected the territory of the above three fire stations during the intervention. The fire security service is going to investigate to determine the cause of the blaze. According to first observations, it could consist of an electric problem. Linda Larocque, a receptionist at the motel, told this newspaper that the fire had broken out in a wall socket at the time when the rooms were being cleaned.
