At 3 a.m. that night, some residents of the building located at 270 Saint-Francis Boulevard were awakened by what appeared to be a gunshot, said a resident on condition of anonymity. "We eventually learned that it was a police team that was breaking down Simon Limoges' door.

According to Officer Jason Sedgwick of the Châteauguay Police Department, the initial 911 call was made at 5:05 p.m. the previous day. ‘It was in relation to a neighbour dispute where the caller claimed to have seen a firearm in the hands of the suspect, Mr. Limoges. It was the SQ tactical unit that conducted the response.’

Constable Sedgwick indicated that the charges against the suspect are criminal harassment, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a prohibited firearm. The Châteauguay man appeared in court on October 31. He was released and will have to return to court in January 2023.
