Châteauguay has adapted La Grosse Bordée, its annual winter get together and is presenting it under a new theme “An Avalanche of Fun!”
Thus, from February 1st through the 28th, young and old are invited to get out and move while having fun as part of the special programming. It includes a wealth of challenges and activities to do on your own, or as a family. Programming awaits participants in parks, online or at home. All of the proposed activities comply with current health guidelines, the city reassured.
Fifty Hours of Outdoor Activities
To kick off the festivities, the City of Châteauguay suggests the 50 hours of outdoor activities. You can accumulate all the minutes spent outside throughout the month of February. Walking, sliding, cross-country skiing or skating, people are invited outdoors to play and take part in the challenge. A printable poster that allows you to compile all of the time spent outdoors this month is available on the city’s website. Maps of trails you can discover are also available there.
Hill for Sliding
Since February 1st, the hill for sliding in Honoré-Mercier Park which is located behind the Georges-P.-Vanier Cultural Centre, is accessible from 8 am to 7 pm every day. Freshly snow-covered and mechanically groomed, the sliding hill offers two slopes.
The Snow Castle Challenge
The snow castle challenge has been launched throughout the province and invites all citizens to take part. To participate, you just need to build your own snow castle, take a picture, find a catchy name and register at défichateaudeneige.ca. When you register, it’s important to choose the box with the category/event “Snow Castle Challenge—Châteauguay” to be eligible for regional and municipal draws.
A number of virtual activities will also be available through the month of February on the City of Châteauguay’s website.
