The preventive boil water advisory issued on Wednesday, June 8th, in effect for the territory of Châteauguay and other municipalities served by the Régie intermunicipade d’aqueduc de la Vallée de la Châteauguay (Mercier, Léry, Saint-Urbain-Premier, Sainte-Martine and part of Saint-Isidore) has been lifted, the City of Châteauguay announced.

All of the analysis results of water samples comply with government standards. It is therefore no longer necessary to boil the water before consuming it.

The City had to carry out tests to verify the quality of the water following a power outage at the Marchand drinking water production station in Châteauguay.

The outage occurred on the night of June 7th to 8th, Christine Arsenault, communications advisor to the City explained. A generator took over during the power cut, but there was a delay of a few minutes before the system reached the desired output.

“During this short period of time, there was some residual chlorine in the water, but not in enough concentration to ensure its quality,” she continued. Everything returned to normal within minutes of the operation.
