A Chateauguay couple is immensely grateful to some good Samaritans who went to a lot of trouble to bring their dog Shadow back to the fold. Translation Dan Rosenburg The 10-year-old Golden Labrador benefited from a partlally closed fence to leave home on December 29. His masters, Micheline Depatie and Umberto Paolitto, noticed his disappearance with amazement a few hours later. A commotion followed. Hours passed but no Shadow. “Worried is not the word,” Depatie said. in an interview at Le Soleil on January 15. She and her spouse were then in heaven. After 12 days of running around loose, their Shadow had returned to them. He was 20 pounds thinner and his paws were injured, but he was alive! Running wild Following an appeal to everyone and a search notice, Meeka Gibbs, her autistic 25-year-old son Marc-André and Sharon Chartrand undertook to cover the fields near Autoroute 30 to track down the missing dog. They spotted him but were unable to grab him. The task was arduous because of the snow and brushwood. “I fell several times,” Gibbs said. “At a given moment, upon arriving home, I noticed that I was bleeding pretty much all over because of the branches that were scratching me.” She saluted her son who took up the challenge to accompany her. “He overcame the fears,” she stressed, proudly. It was magnificent!” [caption id="attachment_75047" align="alignnone" width="444"] (Photo Andrew Clark)[/caption] [caption id="attachment_75048" align="alignnone" width="1170"] (Photo Andrew Clark)[/caption] Mission accomplished Photographer Andrew Clark and his spouse Erika Oostveen were among the group. His injury perhaps saved Shadow’s life. “After 30 minutes, we found paw tracks with blood, and that made the searches easier,” the photographer observed. Followed by the group, Shadow ended his escapade in some chicken coops set up in Lery. “The dog went into the henhouse and the man closed the door. After 12 days, we had captured Shadow! It was marvellous! Everyone gave each other high fives,” Clark rejoiced. The participants are going to have the occasion to see each other again soon and to talk about their great adventure. Depatie and Paolitto invited them all to a restaurant at the end of January to thank them. I can’t believe that so many strangers went out to bring back our dog. It’s like a fairytale. We see that there are really some good people out there.” https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7qsakk
