Jocelyne Simoneau, 75 years old, from Léry, died after being hit by a car on Highway 132, in Léry, on November 10. Few details have been made public by the Châteauguay Police Department concerning the circumstances that led to this tragic accident. “Over the coming weeks our investigators will meet with witnesses and review video surveillance footage. That is why it is impossible for me to comment on the circumstances that preceded the collision,” explained Jean-Philippe Hurteau, Châteauguay Police Sergeant. He indicated that a number of scenarios are currently being examined by investigators, but specified that neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in this incident. The collision occurred close to 5 pm in front of Léry’s City Hall. The victim was in critical condition when emergency services arrived at the scene. She was transported to hospital where she was pronounced dead. Two people were in the car that was involved in the accident. Neither was physically injured, but they were evaluated by ambulance technicians for nervous shock. Léry Boulevard was closed for several hours to reconstruct the accident. “An accident scene expert from the Sûreté du Québec came to help our police officers,” Sgt Hurteau mentioned.
