Permis bientôt obligatoire pour construire remises et stationnements

(English follows). Les citoyens de Châteauguay qui souhaitent agrandir ou construire un cabanon ou un stationnement devront obtenir au préalable un permis de la Ville avant de procéder. Les permis, qui devraient coûter 10$ pour les remises et 25$ pour les stationnements, permettront à la Ville «de guider l’aménagement de son territoire», a justifié le maire Pierre-Paul Routhier lors de l’assemblée publique du 19 février. «Pour l’instant, les gens n’ont pas besoin de permis pour ça, mais la construction d’un cabanon, ça modifie quand même passablement l’arrière d’une cour. Même chose pour le stationnement. Si quelqu’un décide d’élargir son stationnement d’une place à trois places de large, ça change la dynamique de la rue. On veut simplement qu’il y ait des demandes qui soient faites pour que la Ville soit au courant et puisse l’autoriser ou non», a-t-il fait valoir L’entrée en vigueur de cette nouvelle exigence, et donc l’obligation pour les citoyens de se procurer un tel permis, n’a pas encore été déterminée. La Ville a toutefois annoncé qu’elle tiendrait une assemblée publique de consultation sur le sujet le 19 mars, à 18h30, à la salle du conseil municipal.

It’s the same thing for a parking lot. If someone decides to enlarge the parking space of a place to three times its size, that changes the dynamics of the street. We simply want to have requests made so that the City is aware and can authorize it or not,’’ he said. The coming into force of this new requirement, and the obligation for the citizens to procure themselves such a permit, has not yet been determined.
