The demolition of the Polydium began on Tuesday, January 24, and will continue “for another few weeks with the complete demotion of the building envelope,” the City of Châteauguay announced.

In mid-December City Council consented to a maximum sum of $300,000 to undertake the work. The call for tenders was won by Demospec Demolition at a cost of $103,133, tax included. However, that amount does not include fees associated with moving and storage, or the rental of fences, cranes or containers, for example.
“Where possible, measures will be implemented to limit inconveniences to residents resulting from the work site,” the city explained.
In addition, an auction of the Polydium’s equipment will be held in the coming months. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to organizations recognized by the City of Châteauguay. The date and location of the event are to be announced.
Reimbursements and Personal Effects
The city reminds everyone that refunds for activities are still available. Users have until February 28 to submit a refund request to Gestaforme by e-mail at samantha_scgv@hotmail.com. Users must provide their name, contract number and date, address and postal code.
Users wanting to retrieve their belongings must contact the Centre Culturel Georges P.-Vanier (15 Maple Blvd.) at least one hour in advance, at 450 698-3100, during regular business hours. Gestaforme employees have until February 28 to pick up their belongings following the same procedure.
Negotiations
The City of Châteauguay is currently in negotiations with neighbouring municipalities to allow Châteauguay residents to have access to sports facilities in the region at preferential rates.
