Interdit de fumer sur le terrain d'une école : sept constats d’infraction au même endroit

Le message de ne pas fumer ou vapoter sur le terrain d’une école semble bien passer, sauf peut-être à un endroit à Châteauguay. Depuis l’entrée en vigueur des dispositions interdisant ces gestes, en mai 2016, sept constats d’infraction ont été servis à des fautifs pris à griller une cigarette, tous au centre d’éducation aux adultes Nova, a indiqué le ministère de la Santé en réponse à une demande d’information du Soleil de Châteauguay. Aucun autre constat d’infraction n’a été émis dans les écoles du territoire de la Ville de Châteauguay depuis l’entrée en vigueur des nouvelles dispositions, selon le ministère. Celui-ci a précisé n’avoir reçu aucune plainte concernant l’usage du tabac ou de vapotage sur le terrain d’une école à Châteauguay. L'amende pour avoir fumé dans un lieu interdit est de 250$ plus les frais pour un total de 361$. Le gouvernement du Québec a adopté les nouvelles dispositions il y a un an et demi pour «protéger les jeunes et prévenir l’initiation à l’usage du tabac».

No other ticket has been issued at schools on Chateauguay territory since the new measures went into effect, according to the ministry. The ministry specified it has received no complaints regarding the usage of tobacco or vaping on the grounds of any school in Chateauguay. The fine for smoking in a forbidden place is $250 plus costs for a total of $361. The provincial government adopted the new measures a year and a half ago to « protect youths and prevent the initiation of tobacco use. »
