Un pas vers une nouvelle section de pont Mercier

Ces tests (carottage, relevés, analyses de sols) «ne causeront aucune entrave à la circulation, précise Benoît Lachance, porte-parole pour le MTQ. Ils seront menés pendant la semaine du 13 novembre, et devraient durer entre un et trois jours, selon la météo», précise-t-il. Sur son site Web, le conseil mohawk de Kahnawake indique que des représentants de la protection de l’environnement de Kahnawake accompagneront ceux du MTQ pendant les opérations. Opérations qui, précise le conseil de bande, ne requièrent aucune coupe d’arbres. Cette «caractérisation du milieu», assumée par la firme d’ingénierie WSP Canada inc. (qui a obtenu le contrat à la suite d’un appel d’offres du Ministère début 2018), sert à analyser les éléments biophysiques du secteur, comme la faune et la flore. Ce, pour préparer une étude préliminaire concernant le projet majeur annoncé par Québec en avril 2017. Projet qui vise le remplacement de la plus vieille partie du pont Honoré-Mercier, qui a été construite en 1934, par une nouvelle section en direction de la Rive-Sud. L’échéancier des travaux n’est pas encore connu.
