The city has therefore proceeded to redraw its electoral map with a view to next year’s elections.

Châteauguay’s City Council will increase from eight to ten councillors for the next municipal elections, slated for 2025. This addition is necessary because the city has passed the threshold of 50,000 inhabitants.

Translation Amanda Bennett

The Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities stipulates that for a city with a population of between 50,000 and 99,999, the municipal council must have between 10 and 16 districts. Each district is represented by a municipal councillor.

The city has therefore proceeded to redraw its electoral map with a view to next year’s elections. Each district will have an average of 3,787 electors.

The new division of electoral districts can be consulted in the city’s public notices section and in the April 17 paper edition of Le Soleil de Châteauguay.
