The Kahnawake COVID-19 Task Force announces that starting Friday October 9th, at 11:59 P.M. gatherings in private residences will be prohibited as a part of “significant new directives”. Only those who are part of the household should be in the home, including on the property, says the Task Force in a press release. Since the level of the pandemic status was raised to red on October 1st, gatherings were limited to six people. Pool services, home repairs and construction are still permitted for now. “More restrictive measures will be implemented, while attempting to avoid the confinement that was experienced during the first wave”, indicates the Task Force. Lloyd Philips, Head of the Task Force adds that “the current situation in Quebec shows the numbers headed in the wrong direction”. In Kahnawake, four new cases were reported between September 21st and October 6th for a total of 28 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
