The Service de police de Châteauguay is taking part in Police Week from May 9 to 15, 2021 on the theme “How to report, how to intervene: domestic violence and the police”. Operation “How are you?” During this week, the Service de police de Châteauguay will carry out a visibility campaign in the field aimed at raising public awareness of violence against women. As part of this campaign, community relations officers will hand out white ribbons and information documents on local resources that help female victims of domestic violence. Several measures have been or will be implemented over upcoming years to fight this problem. The huge increase in feminicide closely linked to the pandemic is particularly worrying. Women should never think twice about leaving their house or apartment, whether there is a curfew or not. They should not think twice about leaving a violent or toxic environment. Police officers are aware and understanding of such situations. They help all victims of violence. Their primary duty is to help the victim and ensure their safety and the safety of their loved ones. CAVAC Police officers can count on the collaboration of a counsellor from the Centre d’aide aux victimes d’actes criminels de la Montérégie (CAVAC) on-site at the premises of the Service de police, which accordingly encourages direct and quicker access to the services offered by the CAVAC for victims and their loved ones. https://cavac.qc.ca/ PHARE unit (Jardins-Roussillon and Suroît) The collaboration agreement called P.H.A.R.E. (Prévention des Homicides intrafamiliaux par des Actions Rapides et Engagées) was concluded to prevent intimate partner and family homicides and encourage partners to share expertise. This partnership is aimed at mobilizing stakeholders to introduce strategies (safety net) for individuals who may be in danger, at risk of committing or becoming a victim of homicide in the domestic or family environment. Réseau des partenaires contre la violence faite aux femmes Jardin-Roussillon The Service de police de Châteauguay takes part in a round table organized by Réseau des partenaires contre la violence faite aux femmes Jardin-Roussillon. A website was launched in 2019 that provides information about local resources. www.contreviolenceauxfemmes.org/ressources.html For more information on domestic and sexual violence and the resources available, you can visit the Service de police de Châteauguay website at https://ville.chateauguay.qc.ca/service-de-police/services-et-conseils/violence-conjugale-et-sexuelle/
