On the Spotted: Châteauguay Facebook page, some residents are criticizing the solicitation carried out by Bell within the municipality. In short, they feel that the company is conducting too much door-to-door canvassing.

"It's become harassment! And always at suppertime," wrote one citizen in a Facebook post.

In an email sent to Gravité Média on February 28th, Bell's Éliane Légaré confirmed that local marketing agents "are active in Châteauguay". These are independent workers who "can be identified by their coat and their Bell authorized agent ID card".

Ms. Légaré added that the company has not received any complaints about the conduct of these agents. Should Bell receive any, the company promises to take the situation seriously and conduct an investigation.

Solicitation permit

The City of Châteauguay website states that "no permit is currently issued to an organization or company to undertake solicitation activities on the territory".

However, this information does not appear to be up to date. The city's communications advisor, Christine Arsenault, informed the Journal that some companies, including Bell, hold valid solicitation permits issued by the city.
