Armed on a Bus: Minor Arrested in Châteauguay

A 17-year-old young man was arrested by Châteauguay police on Tuesday, April 16, in connection with firearm possession. He had been involved in an altercation on an exo bus. The vigilance of the passengers and the driver allowed for a quick intervention with no injuries, according to the police.

An altercation among three young men occurred aboard an urban bus traveling in the area of boulevards D'Anjou and Vanier around 3 p.m. on April 16, stated Nadia Grondin, spokesperson for the Châteauguay Police Service. "At one point, passengers noticed that one of them was in possession of a firearm and informed the driver," she explained.

The driver stopped the vehicle. Emergency services were called, and police quickly arrived on the scene, added Agent Grondin. "The individual with the firearm fled on foot, but police apprehended him promptly," stated the police.

A significant police presence was established to interview witnesses.

No one was injured.

The 17-year-old suspect faces various charges related to firearms. He cannot be identified as he is a minor.

"We want to thank the collaboration of the passengers and the driver. People were vigilant," mentioned Ms. Grondin.
