Les Peacekeepers croient avoir arrêté l'auteur d'un feu criminel à Kahnawake

(English Follows) Les Peacekeepers de Kahnawake ont arrêté à Stratford, en Ontario, un homme qu'ils croient être à l'origine d'un feu de forêt suspect sur la réserve, survenu à la fin du mois d'avril.  L'arrestation de Cory Bernier, âgé de 43 ans, a eu lieu le jeudi 30 mai avec l'aide de la police locale de Stratford. La veille, le corps policier mohawk avait lancé un mandat d'arrestation pancanadien contre lui, a indiqué Jody Diabo,  relationniste chez les Peacekeepers. Stratford se trouve à 676 km de Kahnawake. Cory Bernier est accusé de possession de matériel incendiaire d'avoir intentionnellement causé du dommage par le feu, d'entrée par effraction et de non-respect de conditions. Il a comparu en cour le 31 mai. Le tribunal a refusé de le libérer sous caution. Il est toujours détenu. Il sera de retour en cour, à Longueuil, le 2 juillet, a fait savoir Mme Diabo. Événement survenu le 30 avril Le 30 avril, aux environs de 2h15, les Peacekeepers ont été appelés sur la route 132 au commerce Thompson & Co pour quelqu'un qui a allumé un feu dans un espace boisé près du bâtiment. Une vidéo du suspect a été diffusée sur les réseaux sociaux du corps de police pour identifier le suspect. Simon Deschamps  Translation Dan Rosenburg The Kahnawake Peacekeepers in Stratford, Ontario have arrested a man they believe was at the origin of a suspicious forest fire on the reserve that broke out at the end of April. The arrest of Cory Bernier, 43, took place on Thursday, May 30 with the help of local Stratford police. On the previous day, the Mohawk police force had launched a nationwide warrant against him, indicated assistant Peacekeeper Chief Jody Diabo. The person that the PKs believe to be a pyromaniac was flown by plane to Kahnawake where he was put in detention. Stratford is located 676 kilometres from Kahnawake. Bernier is charged with possession of incendiary material and of having intentionally caused fire damage; breaking and entering, and failure to respect conditions. He appeared in court on May 31. The court refused to release him on bond. He is still being detained. He will return to court in Longueuil on July 2, Diabo informed. Event of April 30 On April 30, at about 2:15 a.m. the Peacekeepers were called to the Thompson & Co. business establishment on Route 138 concerning someone who lit a fire in a wooded area near a building. A video of the suspect was broadcast on the social media networks by the PKs in order to identify him. The Peacekeepers did not specify if the accused could be linked to other forest fires that took place on the reserve this spring.
